Macabre
Used as an adjective and read as\muh-KAH-bruh\ which means gruesome and horrifying OR pertaining to or representing death, esp. its grimmer or uglier aspect.
Macabre relates to the Danse Macabre, a medieval allegory, which means Dance of Death.
We have seen the movie The Seventh Seal by Ingmar Bergman. It's a very good movie and has personified death so I guess it could count as macabre.

Doula
Pronounced as \DOO-luh\ and is a woman who assists during childbirth labor and provides support to the mother, her child and the family after childbirth.
Most of my nieces and nephews were born at home with the help of a doula, who was also our neighbor and family friend. Doulas can be as skillful as trained midwives whom most barrio folks turn into during childbirth.
