EM-puh-thee\ and is the capability to share another being's emotions and feelings.
This word is so simple that many surely know its meaning. Though we could find a number of definitions of this word I chose the above one to emphasize that most of us apply this word to human beings only...not to any other beings like non-human animals, which, for me, degenerates its real meaning. Most fail to empathize with these animals but if we just imagine ourselves to be them, which are butchered for food, sliced for the purpose of science, used for our entertainment, etc., then empathy would have had a deeper meaning.
