Macabre

Used as an adjective and read as\muh-KAH-bruh\ which means gruesome and horrifying OR pertaining to or representing death, esp. its grimmer or uglier aspect.

Macabre relates to the Danse Macabre, a medieval allegory, which means Dance of Death.

We have seen the movie The Seventh Seal by Ingmar Bergman. It's a very good movie and has personified death so I guess it could count as macabre.
